Adulthood and Furniture

I just recently hit the 5 month mark of being out of college and at my first grown-up job. In this short time of being an adult, There are a lot of different aspects to being an adult that I never even considered. One thing I have slowly realized that is a big part of being an adult is getting your own furniture. Which basically sucks after living in a furnished apartment for the last 3 years.

It has been so hard to find a coffee table. Sounds simple enough right? It's a small piece of furniture that I just want to be plain and something I can sit food on while I watch TV. I have looked high and low for a small table with four legs and I'm starting to think it doesn't exist. Everything I find is a multi-tasking ultra-complicated table. This one has drawers and secret compartments for your throw pillows. But that one is cushioned so it doubles as an ottoman. Oh and that one over there was smuggled out of Nazi-occupied Poland in the 1940s and has appeared in several feature films.

I've had enough of it. I'm currently substituting a real coffee table with a blue storage tub that I had my frames and decor in when I moved (it still has yet to be unpacked b-t-dubs), and it's working out pretty well. It is easy to clean and holds my food. What more can I ask for?

Actual tub sitting in the middle of my living room.

Gotta go hit the garage sales now,

  1. A former professor and current friend of yours is known to use storage tubs as nightstands. Perfect height, and the slightly concave lids contain spills!
